Amanda Everett

Attorney

Amanda was born and raised in southeastern Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma for both undergraduate and law school, where she graduated with a B.A. in English and a J.D., respectively. She graduated with distinction from OU Law in 2010, and immediately began her private practice in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, where she provided full-service representation to clients throughout the state in both criminal defense and civil law. In her 10 years of private practice, she fiercely advocated for clients both in and out of the courtroom in all stages of litigation, including countless contested hearings as well as non-jury and jury trials.

Amanda then joined the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General in 2020, where she represented and advised state agencies and advocated on behalf of state officials in both state and federal court. Her years of experience in both written and oral advocacy were put to good use during her tenure in state service. She also served as prosecutor before the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, and as an Administrative Law Judge presiding over hearings and issuing binding orders in litigation before state agencies.

In 2021, Amanda came to work for Smolen Law as a Research and Writing Associate, focusing on providing the most polished and persuasive written arguments possible on behalf of the firm’s clients. While written arguments are a mere afterthought at many firms, Smolen Law knows the written arguments in every case provide a valuable opportunity to begin persuading the Court early, before any hearing is ever held. The more effective and persuasive the writing, whether at the trial or appellate level, the stronger the case. Smolen Law believes that by attacking cases early and often with polished, persuasive written arguments, we are providing the best possible representation for each client.

Amanda lives in Edmond with her husband, Heath Toon, and four children: Taylor, Eli, Tracy, and Ryan. She and her family stay busy with the kids’ endless band and symphony performances, football practices and games, swimming, and other sports and activities. In their downtime, Amanda and Heath enjoy working out together, spending time with their mothers and extended family, and summers lounging by the pool.
