Lessons Learned in 2019

Even with the excitement of the holidays, I’ve made time to reflect on the lessons I learned from this year, and I want to share a few of them with you…

I am more capable than I think I am.
Regardless of your age, you have insecurities in some capacity. Be it personal or professional, there are parts of you that you doubt. The key is to remember that you are not your insecurities, and you are capable of more than what you or others have told you.

When I try too hard to make something work, it won’t.
We all have ambitions. Again, no matter your age, we’re all striving for something. For a vast majority of us, a professional change is what we’re hoping for. I thought enrolling in school was going to be my big change this past year. However, as much as I thought the career path I chose was for me, it turned out I was wrong. And out of nowhere I was offered a position with Smolen Law that has changed my entire life (in an incredible way, of course). Forcing change doesn’t always work out, but keeping an open mind can be the best decision we make.

Growth comes in all shapes, sizes and time frames.
From a new car or home to moving across country, it’s all growth. Maybe the new job you accepted has given you a significant pay raise; financial growth. Did you decide to make personal changes that caused you to remove toxic people from your life? Growth. Were there been rekindled family relationships? Growth. Is your family expanding? Growth. Your growth may not be happening as quick as your co-worker or your neighbor, but it’s happening.

It’s okay to move forward.
Is life not working out the way you planned? Burnt out at your job, and you want a position you can call a career? Unhappy? Too stressed? It’s okay to make changes that are best for you and your family. Apply for a job you don’t believe you’re 100% qualified for, step out of your comfort zone and meet new people, adopt a hobby that increases your skill set or just for fun.

Life is too short to be unhappy, so make the change!
