Victims’ stories highlight risks of online dating as investigation unfolds

Dating apps have become a common way to meet potential partners, but they can also serve as hunting grounds for predators.

In Tulsa, police are investigating after multiple women reported being sexually assaulted by a man they met through an app.

Two women have come forward, sharing their experiences with NewsChannel 8, their identities being concealed for privacy and safety.

While no charges have been filed against the accused man, their allegations highlight the risks of online dating.

One victim recalls meeting the man and feeling comfortable enough to visit his home. “He had a teddy bear-like personality. He didn’t seem like the kind of person who would hurt anybody.” What started as a seemingly innocent night out took a dark turn. After consuming drinks he poured, she experienced memory loss and woke up the next morning with little recollection of what had happened. “I woke up in his bed, wearing only underwear and panties. He showed me a photo he took of me while I was unconscious. I don’t know what other pictures he may have.”
