Smolen Law Files Civil Lawsuit Following Unwanted Sexual Assault at Edmond Massage Franchise

Tulsa, OK — Smolen Law has filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of a local woman following an incident at a massage franchise in Edmond, Oklahoma. The lawsuit alleges that during a scheduled massage appointment, an employee made unwanted and inappropriate sexual assault toward the client, advances that were not reciprocated and caused her immediate discomfort, fear, and emotional harm.

According to the petition, the client did nothing to invite, encourage, or consent to the behavior. The lawsuit asserts that the franchise operators and parent company failed to implement proper screening, supervision, and safety protocols, ultimately placing clients at risk.

Attorney Donald E. Smolen II, who represents the client, stressed that businesses providing wellness and personal-care services have a serious responsibility to ensure client safety:

“People place tremendous trust in these businesses. When that trust is broken, it affects not just the client, but everyone who cares about them. Our role is to make sure that what happened is addressed fully and that stronger protections are put in place moving forward.”

The civil action includes claims of:

  • Negligent hiring
  • Negligent supervision
  • Negligent training
  • Failure to maintain a safe environment
  • Vicarious liability

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages and emphasizes the need for stronger protections in the massage, spa, and personal-care industry to prevent future misconduct.

Smolen Law encourages anyone who has experienced unwanted sexual conduct or inappropriate behavior during massage therapy or personal-care services to reach out for legal guidance and support.
