She Went to Rehab for Help—Now She’s Brain Dead

A woman entered Narconon Arrowhead, a drug rehab facility in Oklahoma connected to the Church of Scientology, looking for help.

Instead, she was offered drugs in exchange for sex by a counselor.

Both were summarily kicked out of the facility without regard to the woman’s health or safety. She had no ride home to Illinois, so the same counselor who offered her drugs while in rehab, offered to drive her. That night, they stopped at a hotel—and she overdosed on the drugs he gave her.

She survived, but she’s now brain dead for the rest of her life.

I’m telling her story because people need to know the truth. This shouldn’t happen to anyone.

How to Protect Yourself When Choosing a Rehab

1. Check for Accreditation

2. Ask About the Treatment

  • Is it based on real science and proven methods?
  • Be cautious of programs that rely on extreme sauna sessions or vitamin megadoses—like the controversial “Purification Rundown” used in Narconon facilities.

3. Know Who’s Working There

  • Are the staff licensed medical and mental health professionals?
  • Ask how many staff members are available per patient.

4. Look Out for Red Flags

  • Are they vague about costs, staff, or treatment details?
  • Do they promise fast or miracle results?

5. Use Verified Sources

  • Visit FindTreatment.gov to find trusted centers through the U.S. government.
  • Or call 1-800-662-HELP (SAMHSA’s National Helpline) for free, confidential guidance.

6. Don’t Fall for Referral Scams
